Lake Manasarovar

Driving from Saga to Lake Manasarovar. 

Lake Manasarovar holds immense spiritual and symbolic importance across multiple faiths, revered as one of the highest and holiest lakes in the world. Situated at an altitude of over 4,500 meters in the Tibetan Plateau, it is believed to have been created by Lord Brahma in Hindu tradition, representing purity and the source of creation. 




Bathing in its icy waters is thought to cleanse sins and bring spiritual liberation. For Buddhists, the lake is associated with Queen Maya, who is said to have conceived Buddha after bathing in its sacred waters, making it a place of deep meditation and reflection. In Jainism, it is near the site where the first Tirthankara attained enlightenment. Even in the Bon tradition, Lake Manasarovar is seen as the soul of the world. Beyond its religious symbolism, the lake’s pristine beauty and stillness evoke a profound sense of peace.

  I  became enchanted by Tibet since I read Hesse's Siddhartha in high school, and with Kailash since I started practicing Yoga, more than thirty years ago. Kailash, a spiritual journey: getting there

I became enchanted by Tibet since I read Heses's Siddartha in high school, and with Kailash since I started practicing Yoga, more than thirty years ago. I definitely placed it on my ToDo list twenty years ago, after reading phenomenal article in National Geographic Adventure: http://www.ece.uah.edu/~jovanov/tmp/Kailas_Adventure.pdf The holy walk around Mount Kailash is known as Kora, Tibetan word for circling around sacred object. Outer Kora is 52 km long starting at Darchen at elevation 4,600 m with the highest point of Dolma La pass at 5,630 m. According to the rules, Inner Kora with the accesss to the particularly sacred places at the base of Mount Kailash is allowed only after 13 cycles of Outer Kora. Every 12 years, Inner Kora is allowed after a single Outer Kora. Since I'm not getting any younger, and next year, year of the Horse, when Inner Kora is allowed after a single outer Kora is expected to draw huge crowds, I decided that this is the year for my spiritual journey....

Lalitpur: city of fine arts

 June 6, 2025 Patan is known as Lilitpur "city of fine arts". It's know part of Kathmandu, but it used to be a separate kingdom, dating back to 560AD.  Famous attractions include Danbar Square (palace), great museum, and wonderful artsy shops.  Dunbar Square Patan is also famous for tradition of anufacturing and using healing bowls. My guides were very kind to take me to one of the shops that offers healing and balancing of energy fields and has a tradition of manufacturing healing bowls.  Healing bowls; each column represents one of 7 major and 5 minor frequencies (on the right outside of picture).     Personal frequency is determined based on horoscope and ruling planet. Different sizes have different frequency. On top shelf are "moon bowls". They are produced only during fool moon day. If not finished in one day, the work continues on the next fool moon.
